About

Edwin Marks, the chartered accountant who builds your financial tools.

Trained in a chartered accountancy firm from 2014 and qualified as an expert-comptable(French chartered accountant) in 2025, I am now the right hand of the CFO of a major property developer. I read your figures as a chartered accountant, and I personally build the tools that let you manage them.

My story

First the accounts, then the tools to manage them.

I discovered the profession in 2014, as an apprentice in a Paris chartered accountancy firm, the year of my DCG. From 2017 to 2023, I worked as a staff accountant in several Paris firms, then within a national network.

In these firms, I looked after portfolios of SMEs and small businesses: bookkeeping and review, annual accounts and corporate tax returns, tax filings, annual corporate legal work. I also produced monthly management accounts and the reporting of a large international hotel, and carried out an interim audit assignment. Those years taught me what a business owner expects from their figures: that they are accurate, on time and easy to read.

From mid-2023 to the end of 2024, I wrote my chartered accountancy dissertation on artificial intelligence and its impact on setting up a firm from scratch. A subject I then put into practice: qualified in January 2025 and registered with the Ordre des experts-comptables, the French institute of chartered accountants, in March, I founded KOADVISE in April.

Since July 2025, I have been the right hand of the CFO of a major property developer. There, I designed the group’s cash flow statement and cash flow forecast, built debt reconciliation into the quarterly reporting, carried out the VAT reconciliation and checked the interest deduction limitation calculation, and I am managing the dissolution and liquidation of 10 to 15 project companies. In December 2025, I founded EZM CONSULTING to carry my advisory and outsourced CFO assignments.

A good management tool calls for two skills: finance and data. I chose to bring the two together.

Method

Understand, scope, build, hand over.

The same method for a group cash flow forecast and for a small business’s accounts: the diagnosis first, then the tool.

  1. Understand

I read your figures as a chartered accountant: restatements, tax, consistency of cash flows, the constraints of your organisation.

  2. Scope

Together we set the scope, the deliverables and the timetable, in writing. You know what you will receive, and when.

  3. Build

I build the tool myself: structured Excel, Power Query, Power BI, automations. AI speeds up production, and every result is checked.

  4. Hand over

Documented files, built-in checks, handover to your teams: a tool you know how to keep running.

Values

What you can count on.

Rigour

No figure goes out unchecked. My files contain their own reconciliations, and every difference is explained.

Autonomy

I take charge of a scope and move it forward. You are kept informed, without having to chase.

Curiosity

Understanding your business and your operations before proposing anything. And keeping a close eye on the tools that save time, AI included.

One point of contact

You work directly with me, from the first conversation to delivery. No go-betweens, no loss of information.

Tools

The tools I use every day.

Excel remains my core tool. Power Query, Power BI, generative AI and Claude Code, used in the terminal to write and run my automations, let me deliver more reliable files, faster. This site, its calculators and its weekly news digest (in French) are themselves built and automated with Claude Code.See how I automate processes.

  • Advanced ExcelStructured models with built-in checks and documentation
  • Power QueryClean accounting extracts, refreshed in one click
  • Power BIManagement dashboards, by company or by project
  • PennylaneConnected accounting for small businesses and the self-employed
  • Sage CoalaAccounts production and review in an accountancy firm
  • Generative AIFormulas, scripts and checks produced faster, always verified
  • MakeAutomated data exchange between applications
  • Claude CodeBespoke scripts and automations, written and run from the terminal, reviewed before use

Volunteering

Outside my assignments.

Two highly administrative volunteer roles, which also serve as a testing ground for automating day-to-day management.

  • President of the La Tour de Juvisy chess clubSince 2023, after serving as its treasurer from 2017 to 2023. I also keep its accounts.
  • Volunteer managing agent of a co-owned buildingRunning a building, seen from the inside: budget, accounts and collective decisions.
